Distracted by Ministry Success

'But don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.'
Luke 10:20
Luke 10:20
It is a great honour that God uses us to accomplish his will. We are flawed in our character and limited in our ability, yet God accomplishes such spiritual and eternal things through our service. The disciples experienced this as Jesus sent them out in pairs to minister with his authority. They came back rejoicing in their ministry experience and success. They were amazed that sick people were healed, and Demons obeyed them in Jesus’ name. But Jesus urged them not to get carried away with ministry success but to understand that the greater gift is eternal relationship with God.
As exciting as it can be, ministry success is not the end goal of the believer. In fact, God can use anyone. He can use servants and kings alike, believers and non-believers, the smart and the foolish. On one occasion he even used a donkey. But the real treat in discipleship is the wonder of having your place reserved in the eternal kingdom of God. Be sure to rejoice in that.
God bless you and your family
