Introducing
Thomas Life Group
We have had the honour of leading a Life Group for over sixteen years. Previous to that we attended another group but as we had a 2 year old and a baby in arms decided it would be easier to start our own Life Group. During that time we have had many group members come and go and each person has been at various stages in their Christian walk. We’ve had new Christians, people questioning their faith, people with deep spiritual discernment and people everywhere in between.
Alan and Leanne Purvis, were founding members when we first started hosting a Life Group. They were both very committed Christians with strong faith and were searching for where God wanted to use them. We’ve had the privilege of journeying with them over many years as God prepared them for His call to the mission field in Cambodia. It certainly wasn’t an easy journey for them and has taken patience, persistence and prayer. And it has been a lesson for our group on how important it is to put our trust in God for all things.
Judith Shaw is also a part of our group and has just returned from another trip to the northern region of Vietnam where, as a nurse/midwife, she provides education on safe pregnancy, birthing & provides birth packs and DfG kits to women of Sapa.
Together as a group we have celebrated life’s victories, given prayer support and supported each other in and through the tough times.
In Mathew 22 Jesus tells His disciples, love the Lord with all your hearts and mind and secondly to love your neighbours as yourself. As a group we’ve been able to support one another, and other ministries, through a “Hands and Feet” donations tin. This came about after an early study we did on being the hands and feet of God. We started a collection tin where we could pool donations and then donate money to various ministries. The amount of money is not a lot in world terms, but it’s great to be able to partner with others and sow into where God is at work.
