Our Stories
Young Adults Camp 2024
Our Young Adults spent the Fraser Coast Show Weekend at Adventure Alternatives in Kenilworth, enjoying a weekend of fellowship and talks about Missions from Max and Helen Sahl, and Lach Davis.
Thursday night started with a relaxed supper around a campfire where everyone got a chance to meet or catch up before a busy day on Friday. Lach kicked off the teaching with a talk about Revelation 7 and the purpose of God’s mission. On Friday afternoon Max gave his first talk of the weekend, explaining the Great Commission and what the essential message of the gospel is. We also had the privilege of hearing some of the amazing stories of Bible translation around the world through the support of Wycliffe Australia. On Saturday we had a Bible Study session in small groups to start the day, followed by a few hours of free time to explore Kenilworth (most importantly, the bakery!) In the evening, we had split guys/gals sessions, the latter of which was led by Ali Davis with help from Helen. Finally, we finished the camp on Sunday with a third talk from Max and a Q&A session with Max and Helen about their time in PNG.
Amongst all these talks we had the privilege of watching video interviews with missionaries from around the world, including Alan and Leanne Purvis. We also made time for worship, fun and fellowship with lots of games of volleyball, a race, and a night of trivia!
The whole group had a fantastic weekend, and we all came away with a fuller understanding of our roles as missionaries in this world; whether we go overseas or just over to our neighbour’s house, we are all called to spread God’s word and glorify him to the ends of the earth.
