Best Dressed

"He did this to present her to Himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault."
Ephesians 5:27
One of the most striking metaphors of the church in the New Testament is that of Bride. The Bride of Christ evokes all kinds of images of intimacy, beauty, celebration, love. The term bride tends to lead us in thoughts of a wedding celebration, elaborate and full of joy. Imagine all the beautifully dressed brides that you have witnessed in your life and how a combination of dress, accessories, hair and makeup brings out her beauty, capturing her in one of the most beautiful moments of her life.

That is what God thinks about us. But the beauty and perfection that God is focused on is not one made of fashion, but rather an inner beauty. God is creating within us, through the rough and tumble of life,  a Christlike soul designed to reflect his full image as it did at the beginning of creation. This is wonderful work and will finally be completed on the day where we are transformed from these bodies into our glorious eternal bodies. It is most comforting to know that by his grace and power we are headed for perfection.

God bless you and your family
