Volunteer of the Week
Julie Booth

Julie has a willingness and passion to make sure everyone feels welcomed and has a sense of belonging in our church family. (James Dearden, Associate Pastor, in his role overseeing the Host Team ministry)
POSITION TITLE:
Host Team Coordinator
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD THIS POSITION?
I have served in the Host Team for just over 3 years. I started as a Door Greeter and then also assisted on the New Here Table and also am currently serving in the Lobby when rostered on. My more recent role in the last few months has been as the Host Team Coordinator.
WHAT DOES YOUR POSITION INCLUDE?
The Coordinator role involves doing the rosters for the various Host Team roles, recruiting new volunteers, making contact with new people when they register with us to welcome and follow up with them. I also have periodic coffee catch ups with new ladies to the church, and organise the Newcomers Morning Teas every 3 or 4 months.
WHAT IS A HIGHLIGHT SERVING IN THIS ROLE?
By far the highlight for me is meeting new people to our church and trying to make sure they feel welcome and know that we care about them. I think this is an area HBBC has always done well in and I remember 6 years ago how welcome I felt when I first arrived at our church and so I want everyone who comes to feel the same way.
We are currently trialling a new setup and location for the Newcomers tables as our previous spot was quite noisy and not conducive to having meaningful conversations with new people. I look forward to working with James as we continue to look for more ways to ensure our newcomers first and ongoing experiences with us are positive ones.
If you are interested in joining the Host Team, please feel free to chat to me one Sunday. We are always looking to grow our team.
Thank you Julie, for being a part of the HBBC community, serving God together.
