To The Ends Of The Earth

'And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.'
Acts 1:8
Acts 1:8
It is clear that this word of the Lord speaks beyond just the disciples since they were never going to be able to be witnesses to the ‘ends of the earth’ within their lifetime. Their ‘witness’ then must be accomplished further by those who would follow them. The witness of the apostles carries on today in their writing and through our ministry into our world, which when you consider it geographically, could be seen as the ends of the earth.
When the gospel reached the First Nations people of Australia and the Pacific Islands, then in a way, this commission of Jesus was fulfilled. The gospel has indeed spread all around the world. Yet, generationally, there will always be more work to do. Each new decade brings a brand new generation of children who will not hear of the message of Jesus unless we tell them. This is true whether we live in Australia or back in Jerusalem where it all started. The gospel has spread wide around the world, but it must continue to spread deep into each new generation. This is our commission from the Lord.
God bless you and your family
