Our Stories
Playgroup

Playgroup is a group experience where preschool-aged children and their families meet for mutual enrichment to play, learn, make friends, and have fun.
A typical session might include lots of free play for children to enjoy various activities, plenty of time for connection and conversations with carers, and a group morning tea time.
At playgroup, you're not alone. It's a place where adults can connect with others who understand the joys and challenges of caring for young children. It's a supportive community where children can play and learn, and adults can make meaningful connections, all while their children are happily engaged.
The playgroup model is not just a concept; it's a proven and community-supported way of connecting the local church to its local community. This evidence-based approach ensures that a child's time at playgroup is not only fun, but also beneficial for their development.
Colleen Fuller, our Children’s Ministry Director, has a heart for parents and children, believes children are a gift from God, and longs to support children and families from all walks of life.
Colleen is supported by an excellent team of volunteers on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9–11 am during the school term. Lily Copley and Jaimee Gostevsky (pictured) joined the team earlier this year. Their reward for doing this work is to see how much the kids love playgroup. The excitement on their faces floats Lily’s boat! Being a “Wally” in front of everyone as the music and fun happen in the group is not a deterrent. Helping the parents connect and feel welcome is integral to the job. Colleen was thrilled when they came on board and joined the team because they are young mums and, therefore, understand what it is like to be a parent in today’s world.
Playgroup runs on Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00–11:00AM during state school terms.
COST: $5 per family (Registrations for children under one-year-old are free). More info here
