Devotional
Heart Not Appearance

"Don't tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead." Return to the LORD your God, for He is merciful and compassionate.'
Joel 2:13
Joel 2:13
It is much easier to have the appearance of religious devotion than true devotion itself. We can easily do all the things that look spiritual: praying, singing, attending, volunteering, etc. But the most important thing is to be devoted to God truly in our hearts. God does not really want to hear our promises or our empty intentions. He wants to see real heart devotion. When a person genuinely comes to God in complete humility and surrender, the result will be a deeper devotion, one that is powerful in its effect and truly sustainable and growing over time.
The characteristics of those who have shallow devotion include: pride, unforgiveness, disloyalty, unreliability, quick to take offense, fear, jealousy, discord, secret sin. The characteristics of those who have a deep heart devotion are… well… look up Galatians 5:22-23. Come to God genuinely. Come to Him, not for yourself, not for recognition, but for Him alone.
God bless you and your family,
Brett
