Our Stories
The Zschech Family
Soon, the brutal war against Ukraine will have raged on for 1000 days now. While there are signs that both sides are tired… that doesn’t mean the fighting will end anytime soon. There is so much at stake… for Ukraine especially, but for the world too. I’m so glad I can rest in Jesus, Who is the Story's Hero.
After such a long time, we have put aside much of our emotions and get on with life and ministry as best we can while still praying for a just peace for Ukraine and supporting as best we can those we know who have been mobilised into Ukrainian Defence Forces.
Over the last months, helicopter gunships have been flying over our house during nighttime air attacks. They catch the explosive-filled, long-range enemy kamikaze drones in the beams of their searchlights and shoot them down. A few weeks ago, we witnessed a huge explosion just a few kilometres away after a successful interception. Praise God, no casualties… this time.
By God’s grace and generous giving from supporters, our sustainable missions waste2resource project has moved significantly over this last year. Read the full 2024 Report here. We are thrilled that Hervey Bay Baptist and its members have been on board with this project and vision. After the initial successful testing in the pyrolysis waste plastic2fuel production, we are now moving into a second stage that hopefully will lead to full production. This is hugely important for our team. Our project has brought stability and hope; they interact with spiritual Truth and bearers of the Gospel message. Please pray for salvation and ongoing discipleship. We also need new team members with specific skills to join us. Besides the pyrolysis production, our 2025 project is to build a big 6x1.6m rotary flow-through composter. The big pipe was delivered today. We need the funds to acquire and construct all the metal parts. Pictures attached.
From Olya: As for me (Olya), over the past year, I have mainly been ministering to our team of missionaries, both international and Ukrainian, in OM Ukraine.
I assumed two new roles in September last year: a People Care provider and a Training Officer. Being in People Care allows me to care for the well-being of our missionaries: support, encourage, mediate conflicts, and give a listening ear. Caring for those who care about others during the war is a great privilege.
As a Training Officer, I translate, organise, and facilitate various training sessions for our team, equipping them for the work of their ministries. A few weeks ago, we held a conference called Launch, designed to equip new missionaries who had just joined the team. Both roles have been very fulfilling and have helped me grow in my trust in the Lord and my skills.
Blessings,
Wayne & Olya in Ukraine
