Youth Ministry

2024 has been an incredible year for the Youth Ministry. It has been a year of change and a year of great growth. Each term has had its unique challenges and blessings. This year, we've studied Exodus and Philippians, heard leaders' testimonies, and looked at heroes of the faith. We've had wet nights and RC car battles, played spotlight, done bush dances, raced around Hervey Bay, and dressed up as spies. We travelled to the Sunshine Coast as a team to attend a leadership conference and stayed a couple of nights in Mundubbera to run a holiday kids club. It's been a wonderful year, and God has blessed the ministry greatly.

The youth group consists of a core group of leaders and youthies who attend week in and week out. We have 16 leaders, with a mix of male and female leaders and a spread of ages. We've also been blessed to have the addition of a youth Chappy this term. God is so good! We normally have about 40 youth attending each week.

The greatest needs of the youth, I think, continue to be tied up within identity and relationships. The struggles only morph onto different platforms (social media, for example), but the ultimate need remains evident. Youths need to find their identity and want genuine relationships. We really hope to show them that identity is found in a surrendered relationship with Jesus, and model for them loving relationships motivated and fueled by our love of Jesus. Engagement can be challenging at times, but a faithful presence in the lives of youth speaks volumes.

We've seen youth grow greatly this year, taking their faith seriously as they walk with Jesus. We've also seen new and deepening relationships between youth and leaders, relationships that hopefully create lasting impact in their lives.

2025 will bring more challenges with new faces coming and old ones going, but also new joys and blessings. We will continue to serve the Lord through commitment to these youth, and pray that we can profoundly impact them in these crucial years for the kingdom and for eternity.

Thank you for all your ongoing prayer, support and love.
