The Power of Influence
But Ruth replied, "Don't ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.

Ruth was not an Israelite. She was from Moab. Yet she was willing to abandon her Moabite connections and embrace a new family, a new life, a new religion.
What would it take for someone to make such a turnaround in their lives?
We read a number of stories of radical turnaround in the Bible.
Some were because of suffering, and their turnaround was an act of repentance. Some had an experience of the love and favour of Jesus and changed their lives. And some had a miraculous vision of God that totally turned them around.
But for Ruth, it was the love, respect, honour, and devotion she had for her mother in law Naomi. It was Naomi’s beautiful and gentle spirit that made it easy for Ruth to attach herself in the deepest way, “ .. your God will be my God ..”
There is more power in life example than we give credit for. And it is life example that the world needs right now. Arguing with people will not win them. Looking down upon them will not inspire them. People need to see the love and grace of God in action. They need to see the people of God who will embrace them even though they are different.
This is the radical ministry of influence.
