Faith Beyond

Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom."
Luke 23:42
When I think of the many stories in the Bible of incredible faith displayed, the faith of the thief on the cross next to Jesus is one of the greatest.

It might not immediately come to mind. We might prefer the great faith of Abraham, the inspiring faith of David, Elijah and Daniel. But the thief on the cross, when you consider the situation, is a wonderful example of faith in a hopeless situation.

The thief was being crucified next to Jesus, who was also being crucified. He only had a couple of hours left. And yet he uses his last few breaths on earth to speak those words that echo through history at every telling of the gospel - “…. Remember me …”

The crowds looked at Jesus and would have seen a beaten, frail, humiliated, dying man. But to the thief, he believed Jesus was the Messiah who would soon bring in the kingdom of God. “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Through the pain, through the regret, through the shame, in the very face of death, this man found faith beyond what the eye could see, beyond his circumstances. What amazing faith.

God bless you and your family,
Brett
