Flood Recovery Update

Well, what a wild weekend with ex Tropical Cyclone Alfred's flooding.
This was a big event for the Hervey Bay community.
As announced on Sunday morning, our church was set up as a place of refuge for people needing a dry and safe place to shelter. Fraser Coast Council, Red Cross, St Johns and Qld Police Service supported community members here. Several dozen people from the community came to our church.
I want to acknowledge that this event was scary for many, that people had property damage and homes destroyed.
I want to thank Brian in particular for his hands on support for the council staff who led the Refuge effort. Thanks also to other Church staff who were in communication with the emergency leadership and our people. It was a great team effort.
If you have been affected by the flood, a Recovery Centre has been established at the local library, open 7 days a week. In addition, please let us know if we can support you, our Church family, during this time. Even if it is a cuppa and a chat. Let us be there for one another.
Galatians 6:10 - So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
