Come to Me

"Then Jesus said, "Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
Matthew 11:28-29
Matthew 11:28-29
Coming to Jesus is not the same as being driven.
We can sometimes fool ourselves into thinking we are noble followers, driving ourselves with expectations, and yet we can still be far from Him. When we are driven by expectations (ours or others), fear, frustration, greed, or pride, we have not come to Jesus. Coming to Jesus is more than doing things for Him. It is the act of letting go of the performance burden and walking with Him one step at a time.
“What is Jesus’ will for me today? Where should I go? What should I do?” This is the yoke of walking with Him. When we are in this place, the result is peace, confidence, and trust. This is where He wants us to be. God’s new covenant offers relationship rather than rules, real power rather than just human performance, and true gladness rather than just pleasure. “Come to me,” Jesus says. Nothing is easier.
