Devotional
It's Pretty Simple

"Jesus replied, "'You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.""

Matthew 22:37-40
There is a filter through which we can evaluate all our behaviour, all our priorities, all our thoughts, all our values, and all our agendas. It is pretty simply really. Loving God with all your heart and loving your neighbour as yourself.
How mixed up we get sometimes in our devotion to God when we become anxious about whether "this" program will be a success or whether "that" vision is the right one. We work hard to present our church to the community and dream up all kinds of activities that will keep us busy, interested, and useful. And yet, at the very core of everything is Jesus’ simple statement, “Love God and love others.” It is simple in its concept but profoundly engaging as a lifetime goal.
For every decision we make, for every interaction we plan, for every circumstance we find ourselves in, there are two main questions that govern the true followers of Jesus. First, “Does my life reflect a deep love for God?” Second, “Is what I am doing motivated by love for others?” This is a good place to start when evaluating the quality of our discipleship. As I said, this takes a lifetime to learn and apply as we walk through life’s many challenges, relationships, and opportunities. I trust your answer to those two questions can be an increasing ‘yes’ as you continue to grow in your walk with Jesus.
