Beach Bash

By Megan (Camp leader from Bundaberg)
Beach Bash has been a huge part of my life since I was in grade 7, and over the years it’s become much more than simply a camp I attend annually — I’ve witnessed countless lives changed, my own included in those numbers, and watched God work in the continued growth of camp.
Beach Bash became a constant thread throughout my teenage years, and now, as a leader, it’s a place where I am challenged to live accordingly to Gods word and to serve His community as His hands and feet.
One year that had a particularly deep impact on me was in 2019 when we studied Romans 8. I remember walking into that camp with a lot on my mind — feeling the weight of expectations, guilt from my sin, and battling a tonne load of mental health issues, questioning ultimately where God was in the middle of it all. But, Romans 8 met me where I was. Verses like “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1) and “Nothing can separate us from the love of God” (Romans 8:38-39) broke through in a way I hadn’t experienced before. That year, I encountered grace in a more personal way — not just as a concept, but as a reality that gave me freedom and hope. It shifted how I saw God, myself, and others. I left camp that year feeling grounded in the truth that I was loved by Jesus.
Now, entering my 8th year attending camp, I continue praying that teens would attend so they too can encounter the God of the Bible and know for themselves that a life lived with Christ makes all the difference.
