Get your Boots on!

Noela & Niel Ensbey have been members at HBBC for around 7 years. Recently, Noela stepped into coordinating the upcoming Smashing Bumpkins Bush Dance fundraiser.

Get Out Your Boots for the Kindness Works Bush Dance!

Dust off your boots, grab your Akubra, and dress in your best country gear - because on Saturday 23rd August, our church is hosting the Kindness Works Bush Dance with the fantastic Smashing Bumpkins!

This special night has a twofold purpose. Firstly, it’s a fundraiser for Kindness Works, a not-for-profit organisation making a real difference in our community through programs like Coach and StreetWorks. Secondly, it’s a wonderful opportunity to bring the whole community together at our church in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We want people to feel welcome, to enjoy themselves, and to know that this is a place where they can return - ultimately hearing the gospel and discovering a personal relationship with Jesus.

Planning this event alongside the enthusiastic team of Jo, Di, and Carmel has been a real joy. I’m so grateful for the way so many in our church family have stepped forward to volunteer their time and talents. One of the great things about HBBC is that when there’s a need, people respond with generosity and a willingness to help. This Bush Dance is truly a team effort.

As 1 John 3:16-18 reminds us:
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters… let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
That’s exactly what Kindness Works is about - putting love into action. The funds raised will directly support individuals and families in need, bringing hope, encouragement, and practical help to those doing it tough.

I’m also reminded of the words of C.T. Studd:
“Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”

This Bush Dance is more than an evening of toe-tapping fun - it’s a way to invest in something that will have eternal value.
So please, support this event in every way you can:
  • Purchase your tickets (and maybe extras for friends or neighbours).
  • Spread the word to young and old alike.
  • Pray for the evening, that it will be a blessing to all who attend and that lives will be touched in lasting ways.

Whether you’re dancing the night away or simply enjoying the company and conversation, your presence matters. Together, let’s make this Bush Dance an unforgettable night - full of laughter, community spirit, and the love of Christ in action.
