Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes (Samaritan’s Purse)

Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way to demonstrate God’s love to children in need around the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and other fun gifts. Through local ministry partners, Samaritan’s Purse distribute these boxes to children in over 100 countries reaching out to communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

HBBC is the distribution and collection centre for the Fraser Coast, under the direction of Julie Terry, who has been the area director for many years (decades) now.

How do I fill a box you ask? It’s simple
  1. Collect your shoebox and brochure from the Connection Desk this Sunday.
  2. Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2–4, 5–9, or 10–14.
  3. Fill it with gifts. Select a ‘wow’ item, such as a doll, soccer ball with pump, or stuffed animal. Then fill your shoebox with fun toys, clothing, hygiene items and school supplies. Check out the online list of gifts you can include.
  4. Pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.
  5. Label & Donate - To make sure your shoebox gift gets to a child of the right gender and age, order a label for each of your shoeboxes here. You also have the option to follow your box and discover the destination of your shoebox gifts. Labels offer a way for you to give the necessary $12.50 donation per shoebox to provide for collection, processing, shipping, and other project costs.
  6. Bring your filled box back to church during collection week - Sun Oct 12 to Fri Oct 17.
