Jesus came teaching about the kingdom. But what value is there in learning all about Jesus’ teaching and yet not have it effect your life. Some people devote themselves to the Bible. They study it diligently. They understand all its doctrines and can quote verses like a master. They can argue any point and can teach it with great confidence. The Pharisees were like that. But if the teaching of the Bible has little or no impact on the way we live then it is not the Word of God to us. It is just the Bible. Jesus taught so that we could live according to that. His words can have a deep impact on those who obey His teaching.  

Over the next few weeks we will be walking through the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5-7). It is one of the great examples of Jesus’ teaching. But along the way we need to make sure that we put into practise what we are hearing. Only then can we truly call Him Lord.
