Members Meeting & Elders Nominations

MEMBERS MEETING UPDATE

Thank you to the Members who made it to the Members’ Meeting last Sunday to vote on changes to the Eldership structure.

In brief, it was agreed that the Church will have a Board of Elders that is divided into two groups - a Pastoral Elder group and an Operational Elder group. The two groups will together form the Board of Elders, but handle different aspects of Elder work in their smaller two groupings.

This new structure is to be trialled over the next 12 months, before it is considered for any permanent change to our Church Constitution.
Please pray for Elder candidates to be nominated who, amongst them, have the variety of gifts and skills required to lead our family here at HBBC and carry the load of Church leadership as the early Church models in the Bible.

ELDERS NOMINATIONS

Nominations for the position of Elder are open. Any two members can nominate another member for position of Elder with their consent. (See the nomination form below). For guidance in this process, we look to several elements.

Biblical Qualifications. Helpful descriptions of the qualities of elder can be found in 1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-16
Call. Eldership is a calling. They need to show how God is behind their application to be an elder.
Character. Elders need to show a good Christian example in every aspect of their lives. They must have a good moral standing within the church and with those outside the church.
Competence. Elders need to have leadership skills. Nominate those who are already showing leadership.
Chemistry. Elders need to be able to work in team. They must not come with an attitude of pride or condescension toward the team.

When considering who to nominate, one guiding question could help,
“If all of the leadership was suddenly missing, who would you turn to for leadership?”

All nominations must be into the office by 5th October 2025.
