Kids Ministry Reflection

I have been told that we have a wonderful Children’s Ministry at Hervey Bay Baptist Church. We have awesome kids who attend our programs, and I am so grateful for the many teams of people who are so dedicated and committed to serve these beautiful children by teaching them about Jesus and what it means to follow him.
Kids Church is divided into 3 separate groups according to age. Our Kids Church program involves many different activities. Songs, games, memory verses, Bible Stories, Small Group discussions, dramas, crafts, science experiments etc. We encourage the children to apply what they have learnt to their lives. The children (Gr 1 to Grade 6) have been following 2 Corinthians 1-6. The goal of this series was to persuade children that they must no longer live for themselves, but for Jesus.
Our Friday night Kids Club has been a hive of energy with superheroes, carnivals, T-shirt painting, cooking competitions and lots more. Family Night was awesome with families all being challenged in Minute-to-Win-it games. We had some very competitive families doing massive challenges trying to be the overall winner.
Did you know that we have 18 Junior Leaders in Kids’ Ministry? These teenagers play a huge role in both Kids Club and Kids Church. They are forming a strong bond as a team and build relationships with the children who attend the programs. It is so good to watch. The Junior Leaders are taking on increasing responsibilities. They are leading games and activities. I am so encouraged as I see them growing in their own faith as they serve Jesus in this way.
What a blessing it was to have Sally Contessi, the Children’s Ministry coordinator for Queensland Baptists come and visit us. She ran a parenting workshop on Friday night and trained our Junior Leaders on Saturday morning. Almost all our Junior Leaders attended, which shows their commitment and the commitment of their parents who brought them to the training. I’m looking forward to next term as we put into practice some of the teachings we received from Sally.
Please continue to pray for Kids Ministry. For the leaders and the children.
