The Prominence of Prayer

One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray,
and spent the night praying to God.
Luke 6:12
Luke 6:12
For Jesus, prayer was of utmost importance. There are many times where we see Jesus devoting time in prayer. On this occasion, it was right before He chose His 12 disciples.
If prayer was of great importance to the Saviour, surely it would be of great importance to His followers also. There are two things that happen when we come to God in prayer.
The first is that we come to God in faith. Faith expressed to God moves mountains. Simply asking God in faith releases the power of heaven, prayers are answered, and the will of God is accomplished on the earth just as it is in heaven. In once sense, we are agents in the world, interceding on God’s behalf, connecting the power of God into our world. This is the power of prayer.
The second thing that happens is that God also impacts us. Prayer is not simply a matter of asking for things, but as we pray, our spirits align with God’s Spirit. It is in prayer that God imparts His heart. The more we mature in it, the more our prayers line up with His will.
Over the next 40 days, let us journey together in prayer, trusting that the heart of God and the unity of the Spirit will flood into our church family. I look forward to this journey with you.
