40 Days of Prayer

Commencing this Sunday afternoon, 12th October at 4pm, will be our 40 Days of Prayer - a prayer meeting every day for 40 days. We are asking God to show us which next step to take in the journey of our church growth. We have already had a number of meetings about various possibilities, all with their pro’s and con’s, but no clear direction has been decided. So, together we will ask God to make His will known, clearly. The 40 days are divided into three sections which have been inspired by Jesus' words in Matthew 7:7-8:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

ASK. The first two weeks are just opening our heart to God. Asking Him, humbly, to speak to us about His heart for our church. During these two weeks, we let go of our own biases, experiences, preferences, and agendas and simply create a clean and open heart before God.

SEEK. The second two weeks are asking God to respond to certain questions we have, being more specific and directed in our prayers. This is where we start recording thoughts and inspirations.

KNOCK. The last two weeks are about prayerfully making a plan forward. Looking at all the thoughts and inspirations, we search for patterns in what God might be saying. We will have a chance to affirm together which actual steps we should begin to make.

Remember, this is not about giving everyone a chance to have their say, but rather letting God have His. I would strongly encourage each person in our church family to choose at least one prayer meeting to attend each week, and make a priority to come to at least one of the Sunday afternoon prayer meetings over the six weeks.

This is a call to pray. Please, join in.

God bless,

Brett
