Property Maintenance and Repairs Update

Whilst the upgrading of our commercial Fire Hydrant system has certainly been front and centre of Church property matters for the last few years, behind the scenes our large property and building brings with it a constant stream of maintenance and repairs.

We have a small but dedicated Property Maintenance Committee, (four people) and would welcome others to join that team. Their role is to plan for the year ahead (regular maintenance schedule oversight) as well as doing practical repairs and maintenance as required.

We are also blessed with a property Caretaker (Brian) who enjoys the mowing of the property. We are blessed also with a weekly volunteer cleaning team of about six people and cleaning Supervisor (also Brian).

There are also odd jobs and some larger ‘one-off’ annual jobs that need doing including cleaning air-conditioner filters, ceiling cleaning in main auditorium, spring clean of our large commercial Kitchen, test and tag of all electrical appliances onsite, curtain washing, carpet and furniture cleaning and cleanouts of large common storage areas that get cluttered as the year rolls by.

How can you help?
If serving in any of these ways is something you feel led to do, please let the office know or speak to/email Jo Lambden joannel@hbbc.com.au.

Some areas we always welcome more volunteers into include:

  • Weekly /fortnightly/monthly cleaning roster (there is a great team who clean and then have a yummy morning tea together)

  • Odd jobs – we keep a register of small repairs and maintenance that arises around the Church each week and welcome those with handyman skills to be available for a call when a small repair job needs doing

  • Gardens - we are currently seeking extra help especially with the coming warm season…watering and weeding are constant to keep our gardens looking good.

A practice that has really helped keep on top of all that needs doing, is people taking on small areas to commit to, rather than be overwhelmed with the size of our property and building! So please don’t feel that joining this team will mean you become snowed under. Many hands truly do make the load lighter and we welcome all newcomers to find a place to serve as God has gifted them.
