Jesus The Conductor

God has placed each part in the body just as he wanted it to be.
1 Cor 12:27

The image of an orchestra is one that comes to mind when I consider the church.

Jesus, the Conductor, having written the full musical score, knows everyone’s part. It is Him who brings every part together, making the orchestra sounds like a single cohesive unit. He knows where the music is going; the tempo, the phrasing. Our role is to practice and then play our part, following His leading.

There may be measures in full volume, or multiple bars of rest. Quiet measures where just a note or two are played every 3 or 4 bars. Pages of repetition, and other measures of complexities that require our diligent focus. Each individual score working together for the full and beautiful sound of the orchestra as a whole – as one.

There's excitement & adrenaline being a part of the big picture, culminating in an overall satisfaction when a performance goes to plan. The ultimate praise - for the Conductor.

Each one of us, as God’s children are uniquely created by Him. He has known our part from the beginning of time. If our instrument is missing, even if it’s for one note, the music will never be complete to give the full sound that was foreseen by the Creator.

In His grace, He directs us, patiently allowing our mistakes, our squeaks and wrong notes, and lovingly encouraging our practice to perfect in us the work He has begun.

Are you ready to pick up your instrument and play, trusting the Conductor for the part He has given you? Are you rehearsing together, allowing each of us to perfect our parts knowing that each part is essential for the glory of the Father and the fulfilment of His mission for us, His church?

We hope so. There are many in the church who play their part, volunteering in ministry, or supporting someone else to be released into ministry. If you’re not sure of your giftings or what instrument God has given you to play, that’s okay. Just pick one up and give it a go. He’ll lead you. And together, we can discover and rehearse, to hear the beautiful music He has written for us.

The music is rising to a crescendo.
The Conductor is leading.
Come and join us.
We’re not complete without you.
