The Main Thing

But don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you;
rejoice because your names are registered in heaven."
Luke 10:20
rejoice because your names are registered in heaven."
Luke 10:20
When the 72 disciples of Jesus returned from their mission they were greatly encouraged as they observed wonderful power in Jesus’ name. The experience must have been a thrill, to see demons submit to them, to see people healed at their touch. And yet Jesus urges them not to rejoice in the power of God shown in ministry but rejoice in the fact that they belonged to God. When all is said and done, our journey is heaven bound.
There is tremendous hope, assurance, and confidence in the fact of our salvation. The greatest joy in our life is that we can call God, Father.
We have no fear of death, no thought of being empty or alone, for God is our Father, we are His children, and our names are securely written in heaven’s book.
It is natural to allow the thrill of successful ministry to strengthen us. When things are going well, people are responding to God, and miracles are happening, it is easy to rejoice, be enthusiastic and have energy.
But let us not forget the main thing. That the real thrill is that we are children of God, forever.
