Re-Set

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
And you will be My witnesses …
Acts 1:8
And you will be My witnesses …
Acts 1:8
Christmas and new year often brings the feeling of re-set. We reflect on the year gone and anticipate the new year. It feels like starting on a fresh page.
The day of Pentecost was the greatest re-set in the whole history of God’s people. Because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross, the way was made for the Spirit of God to dwell within the hearts of all believers. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon all the believers, and in his sermon, the apostle Peter declared that this same Holy Spirit will be a gift given to all who believe, no matter who they are.
It is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that makes us different than who we were before. We have been spiritually re-set. This is important to remember when we face the end of the year and the beginning of the new year. We review the year through the eyes of the Spirit, and we look forward to the new year through those same eyes. We walk in the Spirit, and that makes us different. As we close out one year and look to the next, let us keep in step with God’s Spirit, looking and acting in line with His prompting.
May God richly bless you this Christmas and into the new year.
Yours in Christ,
Brett
