Eyes Opened

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12
Ephesians 6:12
There is a whole other world that exists in parallel with this one. We cannot see it, but we can perceive it. There are forces, good and evil, that wage war behind the curtain of physical reality. These include angels, demons, spirits etc. The Bible speaks of them. People are influenced by them. Movements are empowered by them.
In the verse above, the apostle Paul refers to them as rulers and authorities. It is easy to see the rulers and authorities in the physical world, but we need to also be aware of what is behind them. Since we are fighting spiritual enemies and not flesh and blood enemies then we need to use the right weapons.
When we become people of prayer, people of righteousness, people of truth, people who speak the gospel, people who know the Bible, then we have influence over these spiritual forces.
When we open our spiritual eyes to understand that there is more to it than we see, we can have confidence that God is superior to it all and that He has given us authority in the spirit world.
