The greatest example of God’s love is shown to us on the cross.

There are so many things we see here that are demonstrations of God’s love. God’s love is so incredible that it is hard for us to understand. For example, Jesus died for the world even though many would end up denying him. He knew that the cross involved suffering, but willingly did that for us so that we could be saved from our sin. He carried our sin into punishment so that we would not have to. He asked God to forgive the very soldiers who had nailed him to the cross. He showed a moment of compassion for the thief who was executed next to Him. And He spared a thought for the welfare of His mother. Jesus submitted to all this because of His great love.

The love of God that flows to us through our Lord Jesus Christ is far deeper than we could ever achieve. And that love poured out on us and through us to others. We are undeserving because of our sin, and yet because of Jesus we get to participate in the glory of God for all eternity. This is the wonder of salvation
