Missions and Ministry
Prayer

Recently I attended the annual Queensland Baptist conference. It was an encouraging and inspiring time. Jason Elsmore, our head of vision and mission for the QB movement, preached a couple of times. One of those times was on prayer, its importance and power. He gave us 5 prayers to take away, and I would love for us to pray these over us, the church, our city and our nation.
1. Prayer for fullness in your life (Ephesians 3:17-19) - We want every single one of us to be growing in the knowledge and love of God. But more than that, we want to be filled with the "fullness of God" in truth, love and power.
2. Prayer for favour over your family (Numbers 6:24-26) - We know the importance of family and God's design for it. The primary disciples in this life are our spouse and our children, grandchildren and extended family. If our families are strong in the Lord together, our churches also grow in strength. We pray for favour and blessing over every family in this church.
3. Prayer for faithfulness in your church and ministry (2 Thessalonians 1:11) - We are not a social club; we are a church. God chose His church to love and disciple one another. We want a faith-filled church here in Hervey Bay, with every ministry marked by faithfulness as well.
4. Prayer for fruitfulness in our community (Matthew 9:36-38) - We were also chosen by God as a church to reach the lost in our community. We have been given a heart for the community by God. Let us pray for a growing heart in this space. May our conversations and outreach ministries be fruitful and multiply. We pray for workers for the harvest field. May we all know our calling.
5. Prayer for revival in our nation and generation (Psalm 85:6) - This has been the heart of mine and many others, including the Queensland Baptist movement, for a number of years. May God revive this city, this state and this nation for His glory. May this generation rise with such passion to see God for who He truly is.
We pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, our Saviour and our King. Amen.
