Our Beliefs

Just so you know, these are the things that are at the core of what we believe.

THE BIBLE
The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, are given by divine inspiration, the written word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 30:5).

GOD
The Triune God exists as the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit – one God, indivisible.

CREATION
God created, out of nothing, all things in heaven and earth both visible and invisible (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6).

MANKIND
Created by God in His Image with free will, tempted by Satan, man rebelled against his Creator, became inwardly depraved and subject to divine judgement of death both physically and spiritually (Romans 3:23).

SALVATION
God chose to save mankind from the consequence and power of his rebellion (Sin). This is by God’s grace alone through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his work on the cross and subsequent resurrection from the dead (Romans 6:23; John 14:6; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9).

JESUS CHRIST
Is both God and man, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and is the only mediator between God and man. He is the second person of the Holy Trinity, the incarnate Word, the Son of God. Having fulfilled the obligation of the Law, the Lord Jesus Christ paid the price of sin by dying on the cross in our place; he was buried and, on the third day, (by a mighty act of God), rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf, us His people (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; John 3:16; Hebrews 4:14-15; Matthew 1:23-25; Romans 1:3-4).

HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit, through the presentation of the Gospel, convinces mankind to repent of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord, resulting in the renewal of both heart and mind, making us right before God and preserving us till we reach heaven. As members of God’s Family we are given spiritual gifts and the indwelling Holy Spirit, through whom we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, as we are led by that Spirit. No individual gift is deemed necessary for salvation or as a sign of the indwelling Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18).

CHURCH
The Church is called the Body of Christ, it is the collective group of people who believe in Christ, accepting His absolute control and direction in their lives and are united together in: worship, fellowship, the preaching of the Gospel, and the making of disciples of all peoples; to encourage, uphold and help each other, to strive for social justice and relieve distress.

RETURN OF CHRIST
The return of our Lord Jesus Christ will be personal and visible; there will be a final judgement, a resurrection of the saved and the lost. Those who are saved to the resurrection of Life and those who are lost to the resurrection of judgement (John 3:16; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 2:44-46).

BAPTISM & COMMUNION
Firstly, Baptism, this is done by immersion in water of the believer upon profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord, symbolic of the identification of the believer in our Lord’s death, burial and resurrection (Colossians 2:12). Secondly, Communion, is a remembrance feast of bread and wine signifying the body and blood of Jesus Christ until He comes; it is an aid to faith and other Christian graces expressing our fellowship in and our communion with our Living Lord (Mark 14:22-26; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25).

EQUALITY OF BELIEVERS
The believer may come confidently to the Father, through Christ, in prayer, praise and worship, with no other means of intercession necessary (Revelation 1:6; 1 Peter 2:9).

SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE
For those not called to celibacy: marriage being a sacred institution instigated by God for the joining together of a man and a woman so that they become one flesh under God until death do part. Children are the blessing of this union under God (Mark 10:6-9).
