The Nations are Coming
God seems to be bringing the nations to us! We never imagined that this would be the case in little old Kilbride, but we were oh so wrong! The Canadian government has been taking in many refugees and many of these new Canadians have moved into our community! One special family we have met is a single mother and her son. They fled Afghanistan, and the mother gave her life to Christ in a refugee camp in Abu Dhabi while she waited for a place in Canada. It has been eye opening to see how little these refugee families have upon arrival and the simple needs that we as a church can help to meet. What a beautiful testimony of God as provider and caring Father to this community.
Our care of this family has caught the attention of other Muslim refugees and at our last service, we had a Muslim refugee family come to church for the first time. I couldn't believe it! Like I said, our growth as a church has not been because of crazy-big event driven outreach, but because of our witness, our prayers and our testimony of Christ to those around us. This new family from Afghanistan - despite being extremely raw in the faith - is breaking into a demographic that we could never do. Praise God!
Pray for us as we look for ways to connect with these refugee families and provide for their physical needs, and share the life changing gospel message with them.
At our last potluck we had 5 nationalities present - Indian, Canadian, Australian, American and Afghani! Such a beautiful (and delicious) picture of Gospel community! We’re hoping that in the weeks to come we’ll add another nationality to the mix - Pakistani.
