2 Timothy

By James Dearden
Last week we read 2 Timothy 3. Reflect on the following questions again.
  • How did you do with what God gave you?
  • Were you able put into practice what he asked of you?
  • If you weren’t why were you not able to?
Don’t rush this but take your time with God.

Now read 2 Tim 4:1 - 22
  • What does this say about God?
  • What do you see or what stands out for you through this passage?
  • What is God saying to you?
  • What is God asking you to do or who do you need to tell?

Some of James’ personal thoughts...
I find the first few verses quite humbling where we see God in His glory judging us within His kingdom. With that humility in mind it brings us to the charge of being ready to preach the gospel. In and out of season is an interesting thought. It makes me think about how I am a paid worker as a Pastor (In season) and then when I “Clock off” I am out of season. The work of the Lord never should stop and we must always be ready to share the gospel, encourage others and rebuke them if needed.

I love how in verse 11 we hear Paul asking for Mark. Mark was the one that deserted Paul earlier in their lives and Paul didn’t want to take Mark back on missionary work. Yet over time Paul forgave Mark and entrusted him back into the Lord’s work with him. I love forgiveness and reconciliation and to see this come about in people’s lives. Lord may I have short accounts with people, forgiving quickly and reconciling with people. Just like in Matthew 5:23-24.

Pray through your thoughts and discussion with God.

Thankyou for reading through 2 Timothy with me. I hope and pray it has been a blessing to you and others.
