Devotional
This week our world has again been shattered by the atrocities in the Middle East. I know so many are already praying for this situation, and we will continue to do so in our service on Sunday.
This Sunday will be my last message in my interim role in the church and I have entitled it `On the verge of a miracle.’ We will be looking at three short stories around the life of the prophet Elisha from 2 Kings 3-7. In each of these we will see that ‘against all odds the inexplicable happens’.
Over recent days my conversations with people, both within and outside the church, have been often very contrasting. On the one hand, there is often little good news to celebrate in our society and there is a general sense of lack of hope. Alongside this are the stories of people who are seeking hope and finding it, in the person of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said in John 12:32, ‘But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.’ Even when Jesus was on earth the governments needed reforming from corruption and poor leadership, but he never focused on this. His purpose was to seek and to save the lost. Right now, amidst the chaos of this world, this is happening.
Even this week we have four of our teens who will be baptised for which we rejoice.
Our world needs a miracle, our nation needs a miracle, our families can always do with a miracle. I hope you can share with us this Sunday.
It has been a pleasure to serve you this year, and I look forward as Brett and Debbie come to join us that we, together, will regularly pray the prayer that God will open our eyes to see what He is doing and partner with Him.
Kind Regards
Keith
