Celebrate

"Celebrate this Festival of Unleavened Bread, for it will remind you that I brought your forces out of the land of Egypt on this very day. This festival will be a permanent law for you;
celebrate this day from generation to generation.
Exodus 12:17
Throughout the Old Testament, God built into the calendar of his people times of remembrance and celebration. Some of these were feasts, others solemn occasions. Even the Sabbath has that purpose to pause and reflect. In the New Covenant, Jesus stipulated only the Lord’s supper, a renewed version of the Jewish Passover. Yet within our modern day calendar there are also times of natural reflection and celebration. Anniversaries, birthdays and Christmas come to mind.

This Sunday during our service and afterward at our AGM we take the opportunity to reflect on all that God has done in 2023. The annual reports tell stories of God’s goodness and the faithfulness of our volunteers. Let us approach this weekend with a heart of thanksgiving and honour for all that God has done among us this year.
