Introducing
The Gardening Team
Ray, Christine, Val, Nola,
Missing: Brian
Oh the joys of gardening in a semi-arid environment here on the hill, at Hervey Bay Baptist Church!!
We really take our hats off to Val, Nola, Ray, Brian and Christine… as they have patiently and lovingly tend to our rather large property gardens. As the recent dry weather tightened its grip, it has become all hands on deck watering, switching on pumps, running our hoses and checking irrigation systems to keep the gardens alive. The little very recent rainfall has offered some welcome relief for the team.
It has been a delight to see the gardens change shape as some pretty severe pruning and pesky plants removal opened up gaps in the gardens to make room for other plants to flourish. This has been the first year the Poncianas and Jacaranda have really made a show, and these will only get better year by year. The lovely avenue of Neem trees down the centre of the main car park are also really starting to provide the shade that was envisaged when they were planted about 7 years ago.
None of this would be possible without the tender loving care of our gardening team.
If you have a passion for gardening and would like to become part of this dynamic team, we are pretty sure Val (team captain) will have a job for you, and at the same time be so thankful for others to share the load.
We also must acknowledge Brian Searle as the ‘mower man’ of the lawns and the mulching, rubbish removal and much watering he also does largely behind the scenes to support the work of the gardeners. Thankyou all for using your experience and love of the outdoors and solid physical work to keep our grounds looking and developing into botanic gardens!!
