Heaven Knows Your Name

When Jesus came by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. "Zacchaeus!" He said. "Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today."
Luke 19:5
Luke 19:5
Most of us know the story of the chief tax collector named Zacchaeus. He was wealthy, but unlikely to have many friends, as Jewish collectors often were shunned by their countrymen. We all know that Jesus had a special place in his heart for the poor and outcast. But no one would have believed that Jesus would have any room in his heart for a rich, selfish traitor.
And yet, Jesus calls him.
Zacchaeus wasn’t even really seeking Jesus. He was curious. He just wanted a look. That’s why he climbed that tree. But Jesus stopped right there and called him. What I love most about this story is that Jesus called him by name “Zaccheaus, come with me.”
There is one unmistakable reality about God that we should never overlook. God knows your name. He sees you. He knows what you are thinking. He understands your heart, even if others don’t. When Jesus calls your name. It changes your life. You are his and now suddenly your mission in life has a grand and eternal perspective.
We read on in this story to discover that Zacchaeus gave most of his wealth away. His life’s ambition had graduated beyond accumulating wealth. He was now a servant of Jesus with his name firmly stamped in heaven.
God bless you and your family
