Our Stories
Life With a Purpose

It is always great to hear life stories from someone who lives well. Eddie is one of these people.
For Eddie, life must “have a purpose”. To be involved, serving others, in ministry in various ways - It’s why you get up in the morning! Eddie loves scripture, particularly the Old Testament and Australian history. A pastor from Eddie’s early life influenced this love to read and study the bible. Reading about Israel and Australian history is fascinating for Eddie. The stories come alive!
Part of Eddie’s work life was as a funeral director. The work was challenging but an excellent opportunity to learn how to communicate. A vital necessity in this work. This prepared Eddie to take on the challenge of a prison chaplain eventually. Once again, the lifelong principle that “life must have a purpose” was in play. A heart is necessary for this work. To help prisoners make wise decisions in life and coordinate a team of interdenominational chaplains was fulfilling and disappointing to leave when it became too physically demanding.
It is unsurprising to see Eddie continue to serve our community at HBBC in a pastoral care role. It’s part of who he is. Eddie is thrilled to observe the young families melding into the community at HBBC. He is passionate about mentoring some of our men in Rebels with a Cause Life Group. There is nothing like seeing the growth in the men as they gather to pray and fellowship with each other.
Thank you, Eddie, for your service and dedication to so many!
