You Might Not Understand Now

Jesus turned around and looked at His disciples, then reprimanded Peter. "Get away from Me, Satan!" He said. "You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's."
Mark 8:33
Mark 8:33
Did Jesus really call Peter Satan? Well, its not that Peter was actually Satan. But Peter’s words were being used by Satan. Jesus had just finished telling the disciples that he would suffer and die and be raised again. Peter rebuked him, saying he should never say such things. So, in a way, Peter was rebuking the message of the gospel. From a human standpoint, Peter was right. The thought of the Messiah, Son of God, submitting to torture and death at the hands of Gentiles was just too far a jump to make in his mind.
When we follow Jesus earnestly, things in our life happen that seem to make no sense from a human point of view. Sometimes we can find ourselves in the same position that Peter was, doubting the words of Jesus. When our experience doesn’t quite match with what we think we know about God, it is just that we don’t have the full picture. We might not understand now, but in time we will. Joy and peace comes when we can trust Jesus at his word regardless of our current experiences.
