Introducing
Point Vernon Lighthouse Life Group
This week, we get to know the Point Vernon Lighthouse Life Group led by Kathy and Mark Payne. The group has been meeting on Thursdays during the school term since 2018. Before the group started, Kathy remembers seeing a picture in her mind that displayed a bird's eye view of Point Vernon with tiny dots of light representing the saints' homes. This image has become a central point for the group to pray for the community.
As they continue to pray for and bless the Point Vernon community, the group is also keen to balance their focus between supporting each other and serving their community. Recently, the group prepared 120 meals for the Monday night dinner, served at The Lounge, supporting those doing it tough in the Torquay area. The StreetWorks team tirelessly serve around 80 meals every Monday evening, and welcome additional help to continue providing this valuable service. Last year, several members of this Life Group also travelled to support Mundubbera Baptist Church. The team fellowshipped with them on Saturday and led the service on Sunday. It is fantastic to see the group's commitment to serving others in the community, and visiting Mundubbera is on the list of things to do again this year. We look forward to hearing about the trip later in the year.
