LLIFT - Ladies Living In Faith Together

This week, Lindy Stevenson tells us about the L.L.I.F.T. Life Group that she leads.

'During COVID-19, when we were allowed to have small gatherings in the home, Keith and I had a small group come to our home to watch the church service on Sunday mornings and enjoy fellowship. There were at least three widows in this small group, so when we were allowed to go back to meeting in the church building, I wondered what would happen to these ladies on their own.

I believe God gave me the idea to start a group, especially for widows and single ladies over sixty. This was confirmed through a verse in Lamentations 1:16: “This is why I weep, and my eyes overflow with tears; no one is here to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit.” The group is called LLIFT, which stands for Ladies Living In Faith Together.

Approximately ten of us meet at my home on the first and third Tuesdays of the month for prayer and Bible study. We pray for each other’s needs and try to encourage and build each other up. On the other Tuesdays of the month, we go out for coffee, to the movies, or any other social thing older ladies like to do. We serve the wider Hervey Bay community by taking our turn on the Street Works roster to cook for the homeless people in Torquay.'
