Christa Wenzel's Baptism

'Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, '

1 Peter 1:3
Christa migrated to Australia when she was thirty, leaving behind a marriage of five years. English hadn’t been taught at school, only German.  Christa feels privileged to be a part of our culture and able to share her testimony with us.

As the youngest child, Christa was sent to Bible lessons as a teenager to be confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Her parents didn’t speak about God. Her confirmation certificate included 1 Corinthians 13:13. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—the greatest is love. At the time, it pleased Christa that perhaps the pastor had seen these qualities in her.

Several years after her migration, Christa found herself in Hervey Bay, seeking companionship in the form of a dog. During their daily walks along the Esplanade, a chance encounter with a pebble adorned with a painted cross led to an encounter with a woman who shared insights about God, concluding with a message, “God is always the boss; you just have to listen to Him.”

Since then, Christa has been an active church member, attending services regularly and deepening her understanding of repentance. Her decision to be baptised was a significant milestone in her faith journey. Her involvement in a Life Group ignited her faith, allowing her to explore and fully understand the truths of God's word. She has gained a deeper understanding of the meaning of 1 Corinthians 13:13 and 1 Peter 1:3
