I Will Pour Out My Spirit

'In the last days,' God says, 'I will pour out My Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out My Spirit even on My servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy.'
Acts 2:17-18
The birth of the church was not some new idea God had. It was not simply a strategy for expanding the message of the gospel. The birth of the church was God’s plan all along. Even the Old Testament envisaged a future covenant where people would no longer need to go to the temple to approach God in fear as He hid behind a curtain. God’s plan all along was to dwell within his people by his Spirit.

This week we celebrate the event of Pentecost. It is the celebration of that moment when God’s kingdom took hold on the Earth and it has spread throughout the world ever since. The expansion of the Christian Church in such a short time is nothing short of supernatural. It is a miracle that the Christian church has navigated through various cultures, languages, and barriers; enduring trouble from the outside and threats from within; and still expanded to be the largest and most penetrating religion in all of history. This is the great work of God through his Spirit which began with the disciples on the day of Pentecost. And we are a part of it. Praise God.

God bless you and your family
