Introducing

Max and Helen Sahl

Max & Helen Sahl, were commissioned from HBBC in 1998 to serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Ukarumpa, PNG. Both with teaching degrees, they taught at the Ukarumpa High School where the children of translators, locals, and other missionary children attended. A hostel was available for students whose parents worked in remote areas of PNG.

With 4 children themselves, Max & Helen were very involved not only at the school, but within the whole community, which is the centre for SIL (Summer Institute of Linguistics). During their time there, a Training Centre was established with courses in Biblical Studies, Linguistics & Translation, of which Max took on the position of Principal  in 2012.
Over their time in Ukarumpa, there were a number of visits from teams or individuals from our church.

In 2019, Max & Helen returned to serve in Melbourne, Australia where Max commenced the position of CEO of Wycliffe Australia. Max’s work is cut out for him overseeing the many varied departments within Wycliffe Australia that support the 230+ members involved in translation both in Australia and around the world. This often involves travel to very remote places for Max.

Helen is involved in church engagement and assisting people in joining the organisation.
We love having Max & Helen visit whenever they are able and this week we have celebrated the bible translation dinner with them. This coming weekend they are also the guest speakers at our Young Adult camp - Every Tribe, Every Tongue.

HBBC support Max & Helen with a monthly financial contribution, gifts purchased through our Two Birds Christmas Catalogue and through prayer.
If you would like to support Max & Helen in their work through Wycliffe, you can contribute through the HBBC missions account (BSB: 704 913 Acc Number: 400041919 Reference: Sahl).
