Ronni Earle

Following the passing of our dear friend, Ronni Earle, we thought it would be appropriate to share an overview of her mission work in Uganda.  This is not a complete account but provides an idea of the scope of her amazing work as she felt led by the Holy Spirit.

Ronni felt a calling from the Lord to care for the people of Uganda and arrived with boots on the ground back in 2009 for a street youth project. She was involved in establishing a place where young people could be cared for.

In 2013 she then started another street youth project in another region of Uganda, and this was following a period of intense civil war.  Ronni decided to create a small charity called Mercy Seat Mission, which partnered with Rev James, an executive director of the United Assemblies of God in that region, to work with escapee child soldiers. These ex-child soldiers had experienced horrific atrocities perpetrated against them and their families, most when quite young children. All were left scarred and all experienced PTSD. Ronni’s background had been vocational training, and she decided to create vocational and rehabilitation training which at various times supported up to 40 students at "Dong Pacu" which ran up until 2017.

In 2023 many of her young people fell ill, but with the help of HBBC sponsors, Ronni was able to gain access to 3 major hospitals which allowed them to receive the medical treatment that was needed, without which they may not have survived.

When living in Uganda, Ronni was often invited to speak, and this included at local university's and churches. She had been observing that many children, including babes in the womb in Uganda, were considered "cheap" and not worthwhile. She felt the call to speak on abortion, mortality and grace and this led to some large-scale repentance among the people she spoke to.

Through the donations of her home Church at HBBC, Ronni was also able to provide bibles in language, to some of these families. Ronni trained a small team and together they taught the Discovery Bible Method approach, that encourages Christians to invite unbelievers in community to read the Bible with them.

She continued to strive to see her young people prosper in sustainable jobs. Her most recent assignment had been to support the creation of a piggery and the animal husbandry training required to breed pigs as a source of food and income for the community where some of her young people had settled in. Ronni donated the pigs to create the new piggery which is still operating. Each young person was given training in Animal Husbandry and received a piglet. Mercy Seat Mission handed this enterprise over to the young people who partnered with the local town council at Alebtong.

Ronni was also instrumental in the creation of a mobile health clinic which saw 26 families being cared for in 2024, referring serious and chronic cases to alleviate illness and suffering. This work was made possible thanks to HBBC sponsors.

Ronni was a driven, passionate and courageous woman. When she felt God was leading her towards action, nothing would stand in her way. She was always so very thankful to HBBC for their love, care and support.

We thank God for Ronni and the way she was led to deeply love and care for a minority people, the poorest of poor- the ex-child-soldiers, that were not her own, yet she gave herself and resources sacrificially to them. She will be sadly missed both here in Australia and in Uganda. We know that she is with the Lord and Saviour she trusted with her life and is home at last at rest with Him.
